L'Artisan

The bakery and pastry shop L’Artisan, based in Namur, is regarded as a local reference for high-quality artisanal production. After many years in which the owners dedicated their full attention to their customers and to the quality of their products, the desire arose to rethink their own working environment. On the one hand, they wanted to work in an inspiring setting that matches their high standards. On the other hand, they wanted to welcome their customers in an elegant, warm and brand-aligned space.

To meet these expectations, we set up a project team together with L’Artisan. Oriz took charge of the concept and spatial design. LightAddict was responsible for the lighting study and implementation.

Three central challenges had to be addressed:

• creating a pleasant, bright and functional workspace for the owners and their team that can support the intense rhythm of an artisanal business,
• strengthening the brand identity by designing an interior that reflects the quality of the products and the care put into customer service,
• optimising the spatial layout to clarify pathways and clearly distinguish work zones, areas for exchange and customer reception spaces.

Our response was therefore conceived as a true spatial identity project. Every decision regarding layout, furniture and lighting expresses the story of L’Artisan.

As specialists in the design of professional workspaces, we created an environment that feels young, functional, bright and stylish. Our guiding principle was to design a workspace that is inspiring, ergonomic and welcoming, while always keeping the team’s daily routine in mind.

We placed particular emphasis on:

• creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere with materials and colours inspired by the precision and delight associated with artisanal craft,
• selecting furniture that is simple, high-quality and well proportioned, ensuring the space feels open and light,
• structuring the volumes so that workspace, reception and conversation areas are clearly defined.

This allows every area, whether an office, a small meeting corner or the reception space, to naturally find its place. Everything remains connected by a consistent aesthetic line.

The objectives were clear:

• creating subtle lighting that brings a sense of space and lightness without glare or heaviness,
• precisely adjusting light levels, directions and colour temperatures to ensure optimal visual comfort throughout the day,
• developing a backlit ceiling that structures the space, guides the eye and provides an instantly recognisable visual signature.

This backlit ceiling became the iconic feature of the entire project. It shapes the volume, introduces rhythm and gives the space a distinctive lighting identity.

The final result is a workspace and reception area that clearly reflects the high standards of L’Artisan. The owners now work in an inspiring, more comfortable and better adapted environment for managing the daily operations of the business.

At the same time, customers are welcomed into an elegant and warm atmosphere that perfectly matches the quality of the products offered. The fresh, friendly and bright environment reinforces the perception of professionalism, modernity and artisanal expertise.
