## Modernisation, ergonomics and acoustics in a heritage building

Oriz supported **Entreprendre Bruxelles** in **Brussels (1000)** with an office fit-out delivered under a **public procurement** framework. The project took place in an older building and followed a clear brief: modernise the workspace, optimise the available area, and improve day-to-day comfort. This project reflects our approach. learn more via [our services](/our-services/).

Oriz delivered measurement and survey, **workspace planning**, the **concept and moodboard**, the selection of furniture and acoustic solutions, as well as delivery, installation, follow-up and handover. Project coordination was handled by Oriz. The work aligns with our expertise in [workspace planning and office fit-outs](/our-services/workspace-design/)**,**with one constant aim: balancing use, quality and real-world constraints.

## A project balancing use, budget and quality

The objectives combined several priorities: improve workstation ergonomics, strengthen acoustics, clarify spatial organisation and create a more contemporary atmosphere. A **fixed budget** called for a pragmatic approach, based on **re-use** where it made sense, complemented by targeted additions to meet functional needs.

City-centre logistics were also considered from the outset to secure delivery and installation phases.

### A structured layout across 200 m²

The fit-out covers **200 m²** and was designed for **nine workstations** and multiple uses. The layout includes an **open-plan area** and a **director’s office**, alongside a **meeting room** (8 people), a **lounge area**, a **cafeteria and kitchen**, and **storage**. The organisation was designed to improve circulation and make functions easier to read.

## Furniture and re-use: an efficient approach

Rather than starting from scratch, the project relied on re-use: part of the existing furniture was retained and complemented with new elements to modernise the environment and enhance comfort. This approach supports coherence and durability within the constraints of public procurement.

## Acoustics: supporting focus and better exchange

Acoustic comfort received dedicated attention, especially in work and collaboration zones. Specific solutions were integrated to reduce noise disturbance and support concentration, while remaining discreet and consistent with the overall concept.

## Brands and partners

The project was delivered with partner brands selected to meet functional needs and user comfort within the fixed budget. For the existing kitchen, Oriz proposed applying **Cover Styl’** (bright yellow) to the cabinet fronts. Cover Styl’ is one of Oriz’s partners.

For acoustic wall solutions, Oriz worked with **INCATRO**, including acoustic wall panels with canvas prints. The main furniture and complementary elements were sourced from **BEJOT**. A **FERMOB** coat stand was also integrated as a small, distinctive feature. model **“maisonnette”**.

### Delivered over six months

The project was delivered over **six months** on an unoccupied site, enabling a structured sequence: survey and analysis, design and approval, ordering, then delivery, installation and handover.

## A modernised and more comfortable workplace

The outcome: offices that feel more contemporary and more pleasant to use day to day. Spaces are clearer, workstations more comfortable, and acoustics contribute to a better working environment. The balance between re-use and targeted additions results in a coherent fit-out. delivered within budget and aligned with city-centre logistics.
